In Mammoth Lakes, Heart Lakes Trail is an easy to moderate 2.25-mile round trip trail that takes you past the Mammoth Consolidated Gold Mine and leads you to the heart-shaped lake nestled at the base of Pyramid Peak. Fall Fishing

During the fall season, brown trout are active preparing for the winter months and taking part in their mating season. The trout seek out shallower waters with gravel bottoms to cover their eggs during this season in creeks and lakes. Luckily, the crowds have dispersed so you should have no trouble finding a prime spot to cast a line!

Lake George is the highest drive-to lake that offers stunning views of the High Sierra. Fishermen may find the most success in a kayak or float tube but shore fishing can also be done at this mountain lake. Silver Lake is another picture-perfect destination for fall fishing with stunning mountains surrounding the 110-acre lake. Again, a boat may be the best way to snag a catch but you can also find prime fishing spots along the banks.
