April 11 is National Pet Day! And if you’re looking for fun ways to celebrate your furry friend, why not plan a vacation here in Mammoth Lakes with your dog? Your pup will be thrilled to hit the hiking trails, stretch their legs at Shady Rest and be the center of attention at one of our town’s many dog-friendly restaurants. And, we’ve got plenty of condos for you to enjoy with your lucky pup!

Mammoth Ski & Racquet Club #105

This unit is a 1 bedroom/2 bathroom plus loft that sleeps 6 people and one doggo. The layout includes a king size bed in the loft and 2 sets of twin bunk beds in the downstairs master bedroom. There’s also a balcony for your pup to lay out in the fresh air after a long day of adventuring.

Past guest Kristina said, “Plenty of supplies and very comfortable. Would highly recommend.”

Mammoth Ski & Racquet Club is located within walking distance of Canyon Lodge and the Village at Mammoth. And, it sits right on the Red Shuttle Line, so as long as Fido has a muzzle and a leash, you can bring your furry friend along with you for a ride into town.

Mountainback #50

Mountainback #50 is a beautiful 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo that sleeps up to 6 people and their furry family members. There is a king size bed in the master, a queen bed in the second bedroom, and a futon in the living room. The condo is single level, so you don’t have to worry about your dog running up and down the stairs while at home. And, it’s located right next to the pool area, so that you can enjoy the amenities without being too far away from your pup.

One reviewer said, “The condo was really nice. The kitchen was well-equipped and the beds were comfortable. It was great to find a pet-friendly condo since we always travel with our dog. We found a great dog sitter through Rover that was super close so we could drop our pup for the day while we went skiing.”

The Mountainback complex is on Lakeview Blvd, right down the street from Canyon Lodge and conveniently located on the Red Shuttle Line. It’s also within walking distance to the paved Lakes Basin Path, where you can treat your pooch to some stunning views of the town on the way up to Twin Lakes.

Discovery 4 #111

This is a sweet, comfortable 1 bedroom/1 bathroom condo that sleeps up to 4 with a pet. It features a full size bed in the master bedroom, a full size pull-out couch in the living room and two more bunks in the entryway.

One reviewer described their stay in #152 by saying, “Grateful to still have good people that allow animals in their rentals and not break the bank trying to afford a vacation for a family.” - Rayn

Discovery 4 is a condo complex located right off of Lake Mary Road, the scenic road that leads up to the Lakes Basin. As such, it’s easy to take your pup out for a stroll on the Lakes Basin Path or drive up to the Lakes Basin for some dog-friendly fun.

The Summit #285

Unit #285 at the Summit is a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom condo located just across the street from Eagle Lodge, a.k.a. Chair 15. It has a new queen size bed in the master bedroom, a queen size pull out sofa in the living room, and a blow up twin mattress for extra sleeping accommodations. This condo is ideal for up to 4 guests plus their furry friend.

Carissa described the condo by saying, “stay was so close to Eagle Lodge, we walked there every day! Clean, cozy, warm, and our dog enjoyed every minute! Would definitely stay here again!”

The Summit condo complex is located on Meridian Blvd, so you can easily drive into town or catch the Green Line to Vons and other downtown destinations.

Forest Creek #3

The last unit on our list also happens to be the one that can accommodate the largest number of occupants. This pet-friendly 2 bedroom/3 bathroom unit can host up to 8 guests. It has a king size bed in the master bedroom, plus a queen and bunk beds in the second bedroom. Additional guests can enjoy a comfortable pull out sofa in the living room. The balcony looks out onto the neighboring Sierra Star Golf Course, where you might even catch a glimpse of bears in the summer from a safe distance.

Sanjaya described this condo as a “nice cozy property for family with pet dog.”

Forest Creek condos are located on Joaquin Road in one of Mammoth’s most popular residential communities. That means you’ll always be a very short drive from the slopes or the downtown area.

Things to keep in mind when booking a pet-friendly unit

Traveling with your dog can make your trip to Mammoth Lakes all the more enjoyable. But, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind when booking a pet-friendly unit:

  • Stairs may be an issue for some dogs. Our mountainous landscape means that many of our properties have stairs. If you have a senior dog or a dog with mobility issues, you’ll want to look for a condo with the least amount of stairs, such as Discovery 4 #111 or The Summit #285 which are on the ground floor. There will still be a small number of stairs, but they tend to be manageable for dogs with mobility issues.

  • Even well-behaved dogs may feel uncomfortable in a new place. Your doggo may behave like an angel at home only to suddenly have anxiety issues in the mountains. Whether it’s the change in location or the scent of wildlife, some puppers show signs of stress when left alone in a condo. Fortunately, there are pet sitting services, like Rover, so that your dog can be well cared for while you enjoy a day of skiing.

  • It’s important to review the pet policy. As dog owners ourselves, we love to see our guests enjoy Mammoth Lakes with their pups at their side. But, we also want to ensure that our condos remain in top quality condition for future guests. That’s why we have a pet policy that covers additional cleaning or damage if need be. Give us a call at (888)204-4692 to learn more about our pet policy.
