Most people
come to Mammoth Lakes to partake in the abundance of
snow
that falls each year in our mountains.
While most only think about downhill skiing or
snowboarding, there is a not as well known but
absolutely wonderful experience that can be had.
Dog sledding.
Imagine the
snow lightly falling from the sky blanketing all
with a fresh white layer. You are there, out
in the brisk air, but you are not alone. You
are accompanied by 11 Huskies or Malamutes and a
musher who is driving the sled that you are sitting
in.
The excitement escalates when you hear him/her say
"hike" and the
dog take off in a run filled with exuberance.
Mammoth Dog
Teams brings this awesome experience to Mammoth
Lakes.
In the winter, they run out of two
locations:
Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge and Smokey Bear Flats.
They offer daily rides from 25 minutes to 3 hours
with
prices ranging from $55/per to $270/per.
If you are looking for something more spectacular
try taking the Dinner Ride which includes dinner at
Mammoth Mountain Inn's Mountainside Grill
or a multiple day winter camping experience.
Which ever trip you choose you will be assured to
have an extremely memorable experience.
Summer means a break for the dogs but they still
love to have visitors.
You can visit the Kennels at 10, 1, or 3pm but
call ahead to make sure that someone is there.
